North Lincoln returns 5 of the top 6 players from last season's 15-2 team. Both losses were against State Championship Finalist Lake Norman Charter; in the regular season, and in the 2nd Round of State Playoffs (which I humbly believe should have been a regional final match instead of a 2nd Round match due to the flawed winning percentage seeding process.)
Emma Carver -- State Singles Semi-finalist ('21) and State Singles Quarter-finalist ('22) -- returns for her junior season to lead the Knights. State Doubles Qualifiers Senior Natalie Gore and Junior Lulu King each move up a spot in the lineup and Seniors Rachel Fink and Ella Wulhorst, and newcomer Sophomore Freya Gustis round out the rest of the top 6.
North Lincoln's first match of the season against TC Roberson was rescheduled to 9/11 due to inclement weather. The Knights travelled to Shelby on Thursday and came away with a 7-2 victory against the Golden Lions.
North Lincoln is scheduled to host Salisbury on Tuesday and travel to Gray Stone Day on Thursday this coming week.
I strongly believe that tennis should be a no-cut sport. I thought managing 25 student-athletes was tough last year, We have 31 student-athletes this season.
