MaxPreps, the official repository of standings and statistics for North Carolina high school athletics, has recently unveiled a Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) for dual-team tennis.
In prior years, selection and seeding for the dual-team tournament has been determined by a team's raw overall record, without regard for strength of schedule. This was the case because, until now, MaxPreps had been unable to offer a rating system for tennis.
With the availability of an RPI rating system, the fields for the dual-team tournaments will selected and seeded in the same manner as all other sports.
The NCHSAA Board of Directors, upon request from the NCHSTCA, has approved the use of RPI ratings for selection and seeding to the dual-team playoffs, starting with the women's tennis season in the fall of 2023.
