On Wednesday, October 9th, the NCHSAA announced a modified schedule for the fall 2024 sports calendar in the light of the damage caused by Hurricane Helene in the western counties of North Carolina.

For tennis, the major change is to push the back the beginning of the dual-team playoffs by one week. Bracketing will now take place on Friday, October 18th, with the first round taking place on Monday, October 21st.

This means that regular season matches can be played the week of October 14th-17th, and that all results must be posted in Maxpreps by midnight on Thursday, October 17th. This provision applies to all schools across the state, not just those in the counties affected by the hurricane.

For the individual tournament, the only change is that the reporting deadline on Monday, October 14th, has been moved from 3:00pm to midnight, allowing for competition in conference tournaments or regional qualifiers on that day. But the dates for the regional and state tournaments remain unchanged ... regionals on October 18-19, and the state tournament on October 25-26.
